WiMAX solutions at a glance

Network access control – AAA Service Controller is a carrier-grade authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) solution for fixed and mobile WiMAX deployments, fully compliant with the WiMAX Forum’s NWG Stage 3 Release 1.0.0 specification, and supporting EAP authentication and mobile IP key derivation required for mobile WiMAX.

Subscriber service control – With a common subscriber policy repository serving all access networks, Service Providers can create a unified view of subscribers, accelerate time to market for new services, and improve operational efficiency by eliminating the need to re-provision subscribers as new access technologies are introduced.

Over-the-air provisioning support – As subscribers come online with a new WiMAX device, Bridgewater leverages unique dynamic information about the subscriber — device type, location, subscription level — to enable device provisioning over the air that reduces service turn-up costs and enables immediate subscriber access. This solution also enables firmware over the air (FOTA) upgrades, allowing Service Providers to easily manage updates to new WiMAX device firmware and improve subscriber satisfaction by seamlessly making the most current device innovations available to them.

Lawful intercept – Encryption to hide the identity of the subscriber or user on WiMAX networks creates challenges for traditional lawful intercept solutions. Bridgewater derives and maintains accurate subscriber context information — such as IP address, pseudo identity, and location in real time — and maps this information to a subscriber profile, enabling a lawful intercept to occur over WiMAX networks.

Fixed and mobile WiMAX support – Enables Service Providers to provide a seamless transition from fixed to mobile WiMAX, minimizing disruption to existing subscriber management systems.

IP address management – Highly scalable, fully featured solution that enables WiMAX operators to efficiently manage IP addresses — including rapid allocation and subscriber activation — and track state persistence in real time.

Control network resource usage and access – Intelligent subscriber policies can be created with granular control, taking advantage of WiMAX features such as casual access and no-touch auto-registration.

Driving and implementing standards – Broad support for fixed and mobile WiMAX, including support for WiMAX Forum® standards, ensures interoperability. As a principal member of the WiMAX Forum driving standards development around AAA and policy, Bridgewater is well positioned to bring these insights to customers.
